New school year--PoMoViDo lives on!

Although the Visual Documentary class won't resume until the winter trimester, I would love to see new images--even just one or two--from all of the original members. I'll also be encouraging current students to post relevant photographs here. Lamb is working incredibly hard to finish up her "Yard Sale" project, which has wonderful audio and pictures--since she leaves for W&L on Saturday, there should be a final product (or semi-final?) to post by the weekend. Meantime, please put up pictures from your current life, whether you're starting college or returning to high school here or elsewhere. Obviously your high-school photo class won't be the first thing on your mind as you embark on your new year, but we can keep our conversation going a little bit.

I wish the photo posted here showed everyone from the class (and yes, there are a few ringers--like Barack), but it's better than nothin'. Miss you all!

More of GeGe

My neighbor, Lee, had a neighborly get-together, so I shot some of GeGe seeing some people she hadn't seen in a long time.

This is too small.
The images are too small.
The sound is a dream though.
This is my good friend Madeline.

GeGe

This is the beginning of my main project. I'm doing a character type study on my grandmother GeGe. Technically she isn't my grandmother, but she might as well be. Some of the pictures are of her shopping at Belk. And the others I took at her home. I personally like the mirror one the best.

Saturday at the Main Street Market downtown. I tried some more experimental editing on some. Personal favorite is the albino pigeon, which wasn't actually at the market but the parking garage next door.

Sister Helen

My new way of torturing my little sister is to photograph her. These scenes show her in her natural habitat: the living room. There was a brief moment when she actually left the living room, so I photographed that as well.

Man With a Movie Camera (1927)

The Man With the Kinocamera, or Living Russia
Directed by Dziga Vertov
(Thank you, Mr. Taylor)

Scenes from Camp Strawderman--horses and primitive hygiene facilities, mostly--taken with a Holga camera during 2006 and 2008. I've been photographing this place since 1971 and would like to put together a book and/or digital project that documents the place and people. Comments please!

The First Weekend of August

Several years of relatively low-quality digital shots from Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois. I figured I'd put something up and I hadn't looked at these in a while.
